INTERPHASE
Interphase is the longest part of the cell cycle in which there are three stages. The first stage, G1, is where the cell expands and it duplicates all of its organelles. It also actively synthesizes proteins, and it generally grows. G1 stands for Gap.
The second stage, S phase, is where DNA undergoes rapid replication. All 23 of the chromosomes are replicated in this phase. S stands for synthesis. The final stage is the G2 phase, where the cell further grows, and it gets close to cell division. It synthesizes microtubules so Centrosomes can separate the cell in division. |
