THIS IS PROOOOPHASE!
This stage of mitosis is the first stage, and it is when chromatin (which is in the nucleus) condenses into chromosomes, which are more tightly coiled forms of DNA. The nuclear envelope of the cell also breaks down. In this phase, the chromosomes can be seen under a microscope, and a mitotic spindle forms between the centrioles, which move to the opposite sides of the cell.
