Metaphase
In this process, the duplicated genetic material duplicates into two identical daughter cells. Metaphase is when the chromosomes all line up in the center of the cell in an area called the centromere. Kinetochore molecules control the movement in a "tug of war" fashion to align these chromosomes. Once the chromosomes are aligned in the center properly, the cell starts anaphase. Because the movement can take a while to become desired, this is occasionally considered the longest process.
